Interview of the Year
Two giants of the gaming world. Towering above all opposition, veterans of the eight bit revolution, creators of worlds and rulers of the same:
Lord British (a.k.a richard gariott) and Peter Molyneaux (also known as bullfrog)
Let's do this thing!
PM: So, british, I hear that you're planning a big announcement soon?
LB: Yup. My confidentialtity agreement wears out soon, and I need to make some more money.
PM: Would it be correct to guess that you'll be making yet another ultima game?
LB: No comment
PM: Like every other game you've ever made?
LB: Oh, like you can talk mister high and mighty populous.
PM: What!?
LB: Oh come on. Black and white is just populous but with more imaginitive ways to drown your villagers.
PM: No - it's a game teaching deep morality.
LB: Oh, and I suppose you're going to claim that you didn't steal that from me? I did that first - and character creation by watching what the player does, too.
The only thing your game teaches is that evil is easier.
PM: Oh, and your track record is sooo much better mister 'player justice will work in an online world'
LB: Hey, at least I made a truly multiplayer game - I've never seen such a tacked on skirmish mode in all my life. And where do you get off remaking populous anyway?
PM: {mumble} ... syndicate ... {mumble}
LB: Hah! One game.
PM: At least I've released a game within living memory that worked straight out of the box.
LB: As long as you don't have an athlon and a modem...
PM: So where's your track record? UOP and U9 *still* don't work.
LB: Hey, leave UO out of this - I ditched that a long time ago.
PM: And now you want to start up a competitor?
LB: Further information is not available here.
PM: Ah well. I'd better get back to work on this expansion pack.
LB: Are you actually real, and really doing this interview, by the way?
PM: You ought to know - we're the same person after all.
