... where I get ll stroppy and beg for feedback, whilst threatening to steal the ball...
Busy busy busy
Pardon me whilst I reminisce for a moment. Catnews was origionally started due to there being far too many news updates on my.morat - you couldn't find the interesting news (ie TFC news that I hadn't actually seen) for the crap (ie. all the repeats of stuff we already knew, new game announcements etc)
Well, that reason is gone. my.morat is almosty completely devoid of news now. Catnews is less of a precis of the days events than the entire days events.
Secondly, it was meant to be current, relevant, and occasionally humourous. And it would refuse to ever link to games I disliked. Now the humour pieces outweigh the contents, and I dislike all games.
It was supposed to continue my tips series. While my various tips did continue for a while, they've dried up completely.
It's got the cat-toons at the top. But making those is become a chore, and I'm not finding them funny any more. Don't say it, I know. That's bad.
The site design was supposed to be a mock copy of the main morat site - and I'm pretty proud of that (astounding what cut'n'paste sourcecode can do) especially fixing it so that it actually used the full screen width. But it barely shares any resemblence now - morat site has evolved, now my site just looks like a bog standard sidebar based news site. In sepia, which is a plus, but still.
It was meant to serve the #lobby community. The #lobby community has slowly shrunk, and I no longer have 24/7 access to it. You'll still find me there, but that's my home client idling as a silent vigil. No more lobby links.
It was meant to become huge. Heh :) Every time I get more than a hundred visitors in a week, I stop updating.
It was meant to be my personal home page, lists of links I used a lot shared regardles sof where I was accessing the net from. I can no longer update the site from work. Can't log in. So there goes THAT reason.
I very rarely got any help, I never expected any credit. It's been fun and pointless. But I'm not really getting anything out of it any more. And from lack of feedback, neither is anyone else.
I'm not closing this site down today, but updates will be sporadic at best for the foreseeable.
Maybe next time I'll just join an existing news site. At least I'll have this on my CV.
Don't worry - there is good news. Even though I may not be working so hard on this site, I won't be working less hard overall - my extra work will be going into other projects. If you're good, maybe I'll tell you about them...
Have fun out there. Trust no one. Watch your back. Keep your kittens handy.
