There's nothing to see here except for shadows of the past - and these ones won't be returning.

I'd point you to my next project here - but I'm not that organised. My style is to act and then sort out the consequences, rather than the other way around. Oh, and lying. I do that a lot too. (i.e. if you look closely, you may have seen some links appearing roughly once a week)

Vitenka.com is registered to me for the forseeable future, so you might find something there.

I'm aiming for a rico factor of at least 2.5 here ;)

Damn You All!

It should be possible to make this in gamemaker or darkbasic or some other pos dev environment. It might be useful for anyone wanting to practice their GDI skills. Should certainly be sharewearable. The difficult part would be making either network play work, or adding an AI opponent.

Precis

"You must manage the floodplains of europe! Climate change is causing horrible problems - and it's your job to ensure a steady supply of water."

Basically, dig trenches and build dams - random rainfall fills them up and you get points for delivering enough (but not too much) water to certain towns. Bonus levels such as "Get as much water out of here as posisble" and "Water the desert" can compete with multiplayer levels where you are trying to steal each others water in a continuing campaign.

Mechanics

The map is simple a grid of elevation levels. Display it however you like. Water, obviously, flows from high elevations to lower ones. You'd have to keep track of the surface level of the water and the terrain seperately.

You score points by delivering enough weater to towns. Given enough water, the town grows, and demands more water. Given too much, or too little, it shrinks.

You can then use these points to change elevation levels and build dams. Dams are special raised elevation levels that can be set to stay a certain level below the surface of the water (so that they provide a steady supply of water) Some maps might not allow dams, forcing players to control the levels manually.

And That's a Wrap

Not all games have to be complex! It's nice and simple, but think of the multiplayer potentials of flooding opponents towns, or stealing their catchment areas...

It all ought to run at a breakneck pace; this isn't a complex game of strategic planning - this is a silly game of water theft.

Feel free to set it on mars or something, if you feel like giving more justification.

Maybe I'll make this some day when I'm less busy. It really doens't deserve to be more than a few days work. But since I'm busy and lazy, I thought I'd throw it out there. Dunno if someone has already made something similar, I'd presume so - but I couldn't find it.

I'm aware it sucks, but am also too lazy.
Note that now you've changed all the colours, it could be about anything!
BTW - this site looks fine in IE5 and netscape4. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find it, maybe you can use - Netscape 2.
