Edith Tells His Tale...
Session 1:
This was basically
the introductory session, the premise that the characters were
modern day soldiers of fortune working for an international
mercenary corporation was given, pre-generated characters were
given out and players were put straight into the action.
Things started out normally enough with our characters being sent
out on a supply run (the spud and chocolate run we decided),
kited out in full gear just for practice of course. The
helicopter was shot down on the way back to base, while the Pilot
(my PC) was engaged in making sure of the landing part of
crash-landing Tom's PC set off a distress flare. We crashed and
while everybody else bailed, I decided to be individual and
"secure the cockpit", I was duly punished with 2×D6
Damage (about 3 Health Points after DR) when the Helicopter blew
up on me.
After much discussion we decided to walk back to base,
approaching with caution we spotted that the base's lights were
out, the computer was on (thanks to the heartbeat radio signal it
transmits) and other channels were blank except for gunfire and
screaming briefly on one, after this we decided to investigate
meeting Bravo Team on several hundred metres from base. After I
threw a flare so we could see who they were they were promptly
killed by a rocket attack from two assailants who turned out to
be from Charlie Team (We incidentally were Alpha Team). We
quickly dispatched the two assailants and returned to question
the remaining dying member of Bravo Team who informed us that
Charlie Team had decided to go on a killing spree inside the
base.
We Decided to enter the base via the back door and proceeded to
the basement where we took the elevator shaft to the second floor
where the armoury, commander's office and intelligence are
located. Upon leaving the elevator shaft the first three members
of the team were attacked by the other members of Charlie team
and a tiger wearing company armour, a fire fight ensued with the
occasional melee weapon involved while the other members of the
team exited the elevator. At some point in the fight we found
that the tiger was rather nifty with grenades unless shot at
which point it dropped the grenade and suffered 2×D6. My PC was
near killed after taking on the tiger with a sword. We also found
what wonderful, wonderful stuff power armour is (DR 3), the guy
wearing it basically stood in front hardly being touched by the
mass of bullets ricocheting off his chest. Meanwhile he used
Chain guns to eliminate the 5 people who attacked us (including 1
with a crossbow) so we were left with the Tiger.
At this point the GM realised the battle was dragging on a bit
and decided to bring on the next big thing. The ground shook and
our PCs started to glow, the guy with the first aid healed
completely, while suffering damage himself, the guy with the stun
baton cut the tiger in half with it. We proceeded to the armoury
and stocked up and then went to intelligence where we
accidentally set off the building's self-destruct countdown
(which sounded unusually evil). After GM prodding we decided not
to run like hell and try and shut it off in the commander's
office. The commander was found to be in mystical robes and
protested he knew nothing and could not shut off the
self-destruct device. The PC's took the commander and legged it
in one of the base Jeeps, behind them a large explosion went off
and the satellite feed cut out. Our base commander (Kurazaro)
turned to our Player Characters for the rest of the campaign and
said "That's the last transmission we got, we want you to
investigate."
Session 2:
This was mainly Character Generation. Basically we got our
backgrounds sorted and our character's skills and attributes. We
then had a simple paintball session and upgraded our characters 1
level, we then went out and burned a marine research facility to
the ground and upgraded again.
Player Reports from Edith from Session 2 onwards will be
covered in Bob's Diary as he refuses to do Player and Character
Reports simultaneously
